C-Suite Partners is exclusively partnering with St John of God Health Care for the appointment of their Deputy Director of Nursing at St John of God Murdoch Hospital.

St John of God Murdoch Hospital is one of Australia's leading private hospitals at 507 beds, providing a comprehensive range of secondary and tertiary health services. The position of Deputy of Director of Nursing plays a key role within the Hospital Leadership Team, and offers a unique blend of operational leadership, business development and strategy. This role requires an exceptional nurse leader who possesses a strong skillset in stakeholder management, with a significant focus on doctor relationships.

Reporting into the Director of Nursing, the Deputy Director of Nursing will have leadership across St John of God Murdoch's Procedural Areas, which includes 18 operating theatres, 5 endoscopy suites, 2 cardiac cath laboratories, CSSD and two Day Surgery Units. As such, a strong background of nursing practice within acute services is highly regarded.

Key requirements include but not limited to:

  • Actively contribute to, and promotes the development of the Hospital’s goals, objectives, policies, and standards
  • Provides clinical leadership in order to establish and maintains the highest standards of nursing practice in a patient-focused environment
  • Develop, implement, and evaluate quality programs and provides leadership and professional expertise to ensure nursing care is monitored against best practice standards
  • In consultation with departmental Managers ensures all Nursing Division, Hospital, and departmental policies and procedures are implemented reviewed, and evaluated throughout the nursing directorate
  • Promote continuing professional development of nursing staff and others within the directorate
  • Monitor compliance with clinical practice standards and initiates corrective action as required
  • Support Managers in ensuring the delivery of cost-effective nursing and clinical care
  • Continuously monitor and report on productivity and activity within the nursing directorate


  • A willingness and capacity to embrace the Mission and Values of St John of God Health Care
  • Registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia as a Registered Nurse
  • Postgraduate qualifications in Nursing or relevant discipline, or progression towards
  • Extensive contemporary management leadership experience in a Senior Nursing position in an Acute Hospital Facility
  • High level conceptual and analytical skills, and advanced oral and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a positive service orientated culture that encourages sound patient care and stewardship, focusing on innovation and productivity improvements
  • Demonstrated understanding and application of best practice Human Resource principles and systems including performance management
  • Experience in setting, monitoring, and meeting budgeted financial and annual operational targets and benchmarks
  • Operational and strategic planning experience
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with nursing teams, medical practitioners, and other key stakeholders
