An exciting opportunity exists to join the Palliative Care Department at Wollongong Hospital. 

Where you'll be working
Wollongong Hospital is the Illawarra and Shoalhaven’s major referral and teaching hospital and has a bed base of more than 500. The campus, which incorporates the Illawarra Regional Cancer Care Centre, provides a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient and community-based services.

What you'll be doing Responsible for provision of high quality trainee assessment and advice for inpatients referred to Wollongong Hospital's Palliative Care Consult Service, under the supervision of Specialist Staff. May include initial consults for new referrals with or without the assistance of a CNS, undertaking consults with one of the Staff Specialists, providing inpatient care to patients taken over in specialist palliative care bed, and working in the multi-disciplinary team to deliver high quality palliative care for patients referred to the Consult Service.

  1. MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia
  2. A minimum of two (2) full years of postgraduate experience
  3. Able to demonstrate relevance of palliative care training to chosen career path
  4. Demonstrated ability to work independently within a supervised complex clinical environment utilising excellent clinical skills and judgement and expertise
  5. Demonstrated teamwork, time management and problem solving skills as part of a multidisciplinary team
  6. Sufficient skills knowledge and experience to practice as a safe and competent palliative care trainee
  7. Demonstrated commitment to participate in after hours, weekend and on-call rosters
  8. Moderate computer skills
