AEOIU Foundation currently operates across ten across in QLD and South Australia, with a new centre opening in Canberra in July 2021.

The position:
  • Fixed-term, part-time (variable hours to suit a university schedule) The Allied Health Assistant supports the centre-based clinical team to provide highly skilled, autism-specific, early intervention within the AEIOU framework for children with autism aged from 2 to 6 years.
The clinical team specialises in teaching children play and social skills, self-care skills, foundational learning skills, functional communication, and adaptive behaviour skills.

Your role will work within the Occupational Therapy discipline helping to implement a range of evidence-based interventions, particularly around play, social, toileting, mealtimes, dressing and motor skills.

There will be opportunities to be involved in reviewing intervention plans, setting new goals with support, and developing your documentation skills.

Who we are looking for? If you are motivated to learn how to effectively support young children with autism to live their best lives, studying towards a Bachelor of Occupational Therapy, Allied Health or equivalent qualification. You are driven, enthusiastic and keen to work with and learn from a team of professionals including occupational therapists, speech pathologists, behaviour therapists, and room leaders, then AEIOU is looking for you.

To be successful in this role you will possess the following:
  • Knowledge of typically developing children from birth to school aged children is desirable
  • Willingness to learn Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) specific techniques
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively with team members and families
  • Hold a current Blue Card Note:
If you do not hold a current ‘Paid Employee Blue Card’ you will need to apply for a combined NDIS Worker Screening Check clearance and current Blue Card before you can start). What we do for you:
