Mookai Rosie Bi-Bayan is seeking an experienced, motivated, professional that is suitably qualified to join our team as an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner. Closes 18/06/2021

About the Opportunity:

This position provides a culturally appropriate primary health care to Mookai Rosie Bi-Bayan (“MRBB”) clients who are attending Cairns for medical reasons. This includes but is not limited to Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander women and children in Cairns for antenatal, perinatal, medical and surgical needs. This position supports our clients to undergo preventative primary health care checks, develop their health literacy and facilitate access to relevant services according to the clients’ treatment needs. The appropriate candidate will be responsible for supporting the clients’ holistic needs within a multidisciplinary team and model of care ensuring the health outcomes are improved for our clients’ in the limited time they are with us.

 The Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health Practitioner (“Health Worker”) is expected to work 38 hours per week, as per the rostered days (i.e., Monday to Friday) with some flexibility in the event of being called on to deal with problems that may unexpectedly arise outside of these hours within the areas of responsibility that fall within the scope of the position.

 Shifts start at 8am and finish at 4:30pm. 

 Remuneration for this position falls within the Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Services Award, Grades 3-4 and includes the relative penalty rates and shift allowances.
