Selection criteria

  • Experience as a wardsperson or hospital assistant in a hospital setting, or experience working in a people-orientated environment in assisting and supporting the provision of patient care
  • Demonstrated experience in working in a multi-disciplinary team environment and the ability to organise and prioritise work demands within required timeframes.
  • Sound knowledge and practical application/commitment to understanding of risk management, safety and quality principles and the role of the Wardsperson in applying these principles.
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills and the ability to effectively communicate with a staff, patients and members of the public.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of hygiene and infection prevention and control principles and environmental cleaning standards.
  • Availability and capacity to participate in a 24 hour/ seven-day rotating roster which includes working all shifts, all days of the week including public holidays.
