Apply your extensive counselling experience and highly developed interpersonal skills to support students’ wellbeing.

We are a new world university. Like our namesake, Charles Darwin, we think differently. We innovate, embrace change, challenge conventions and look for better ways. We’re not about tradition or legacy, privilege or exclusivity. We care about people as individuals, and about our wider society. We’re about what we can give to the world, rather than what we take. We cannot build a new world without diversity of thought, so we bring together people with unique perspectives in an inclusive and supporting learning environment to help them connect, discover and grow. This is the CDU difference.

As Team Leader Counselling, you will coordinate a team of three counsellors to provide professional counselling support to CDU students either in person or via telephone. Through the counselling process, students are aided to develop skills to manage personal issues that may be impacting on the achievement of academic goals. Where appropriate you will also liaise with relevant CDU staff and external professionals to help provide further support for individual students.

Completion of a relevant degree (e.g. Psychology or Social Work) and registration or eligibility for registration with the relevant professional body (AHPRA (Psychology), or AASW (Social Work) is essential. As the successful candidate you will also demonstrate extensive and diverse counselling experience along with highly developed interpersonal skills that include the ability to communicate effectively within a cross cultural environment comprising both students and staff in a tertiary education context.
