The incumbent of this position is responsible for accurately translating inpatient episodes of care into code using the International Statistical Classification of Diseases and Related Health Problems, Tenth Revision, Australian Modification (ICD-10-AM) and the Australian Classification of Health Interventions (ACHI) for Activity Based Funding (ABF), reporting and research purposes.

  • Successful completion of recognised courses in clinical coding (ICD-10-AM) and medical terminology, or a Bachelor of Health Information Management (or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated experience and competence in clinical classification using ICD-10-AM and high level understanding of Australian Coding Standards.
  • Computer literacy and excellent keyboard skills.
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Demonstrated ability to work to and meet strict deadlines.
