Speech Pathologist, Grade 2

  • Exciting opportunity for a Grade 2 Speech Pathologist to join our Speech Pathology Team

  • Part Time (with potential for increase up to 1.0 EFT), Fixed Term (Feb 2022) role based at the The Royal Melbourne Hospital (RMH), City Campus

Your new team

We are looking for passionate and dedicated individuals to join our Speech Pathology team. This is a part time (with potential for increase to full time), fixed term Grade 2 position, working 45 hours per fortnight. This position will work across a range of acute clinical areas of the Royal Melbourne Hospital - City Campus.

Your success in this role, will be in your ability to

  • Provide quality care to clients through competent clinical skills, effective communication, and active participation within a multidisciplinary team environment

  • Through your consolidating clinical expertise, ensure excellence in client care and dissemination of information to staff and clinical teams

  • Contribute to the internal professional development program and participate in program development

  • Provide supervision to grade 1 staff and students.

Formal Qualifications

  • Bachelor or Masters of Speech Pathology (or equivalent)

Essential Criteria

  • Experience working in the acute, sub-acute or community setting

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and written skills

  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and in co-operation with others

  • Demonstrated ability to contribute to Departmental Quality Projects or Service Development

  • Clinical skills in comprehensive assessment, management and discharge planning

  • Videofluoroscopy competency

  • Professional behaviour and conduct which reflects self-initiative, confidentiality, self-evaluation and commitment to professional development

  • Previous experience in a related field and good working knowledge of community support services

  • Skills in Microsoft Office suite of programs

  • Commitment to continued professional development

  • Ability to manage a demanding workload and effectively prioritise tasks.

Desirable but not essential for performance in this position

  • Membership to Speech Pathology Australia

  • Developing skills in research

  • Developing skills in program development and evaluation

  • Tracheostomy Competency
