About our General Services Department at Monash Health

Monash Health is the largest public health service in Victoria, employing over 18,000 people across a range of specialities.Our Dandenong General Services team provide services to a culturally diverse patient base in a busy acute health setting with over 450 inpatient beds, a major emergency department and mental health facility.

Our General Services team provide ward based support to Nursing, patient transfers, cleaning, linen & waste services and a range of broader stakeholder service provision. Together we strive to develop and improve patient experiences in the public health setting.

About The Role

The General Services Manager is an essential member of our leadership team.Reporting to the Support Services Manager, Dandenong Hospital and supported by a broader team of People & Culture, Finance and OH&S business partners, you will be responsible for:

  • Driving performance of over 150 dedicated employees.
  • Providing a high level stakeholder engagement
  • Management of our Patient Services Assistants, Environmental Services, Laundry, Linen, Waste & Contractors
  • Roster management, training, development and all aspects of human resource management for this workforce
  • Financial accountability

This is a full-time ongoing role, working conventional business operating hours Monday to Friday.

Key Targets:

  • Achieving and maintaining the highest standards in patient and stakeholder, service, quality & safety
  • Providing support and leadership to diverse employee base
  • Achieving the highest standard of cleanliness and infection control across clinical and non-clinical areas

About You

You are a dynamic experienced hands on manager looking to advance your skills and career within a larger health service. You will join us in our pursuit to provide an exceptional patient and staff experience and have an innate ability to deliver to high competing demands.

You will be able to showcase a history of successful team management and stakeholder service within a healthcare setting and will be able to demonstrate your consultative approach through successes in previous roles and projects.

Additionally you will possess:

  • A depth & breadth of experience working within a healthcare setting
  • Have excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Be a solutions oriented person with the ability to lead your team
  • Have a passion for providing exceptional customer service and staff experiences

What you need:

  • Proven experience in management of patient services, environmental services, waste management, infection control and work health & safety in a healthcare setting
  • Demonstrated skills in leading a culturally diverse team, including well developed people management and engagement skills
  • Positive attitude and motivational approach in facilitating change and adopting new concepts

Selection Criteria
Proven experience in management of patient services, environmental services, waste management, infection control and occupational health & safety in a healthcare setting.

Demonstrated skills in leading a culturally diverse team, including well developed people management, communication and stakeholder engagement skills
