JOB DESCRIPTION

The School of Medical Science’s Centre of Excellence for Alzheimer’s Disease Research and Care’s research is based on a holistic approach to both disease pathogenesis and clinical care. The Centre’s research is aiming to advance the understanding of risk factors for the development of Alzheimer’s Disease as an outcome of translational research into diagnostics and biomarkers and enabling research into population-based health outcomes.

The Centre is conducting the Australian-multidomain Approach to Reduce dementia Risk by protecting brain health With lifestyle intervention (AU-ARROW) trial which will test the effectiveness of a 2-year, multidomain treatment plan across two study groups: a structured lifestyle intervention group and an education-only control group.

We are seeking a qualified Exercise Physiologist to oversee the physical activities associated with the AU-ARROW protocol guidelines. The successful applicant will be responsible for developing safe and effective exercise plans and exercise/fitness sessions and will work with participants to establish and assess goals dependent on the individual’s particular circumstances. The Exercise Physiologist will also support the research by undertaking a range of administrative tasks to gather information and record data in line with the project policies and guidelines.

The successful applicant will:
Be a qualified Exercise Physiologist with accreditation with Exercise and Sports Science Australia

Have experience in completing physical assessments and developing appropriate exercise plans

Be a great communicator who can deliver presentations to study participants

Have strong administrative skills

Previous experience working in a research environment would be highly regarded

You will also demonstrate personal attributes that are congruent with the University’s values of Integrity, Respect, Rational Inquiry and Personal Excellence.

Benefits & Remuneration
This part time, fixed term position (12 months) attracts remuneration of $73,257 to $81,404 60% PRO-RATA (HEW 5) plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
