Staff Specialist
Neonatal and Paediatric Intensive Care Unit
Royal Hobart Hospital

We are seeking a Staff Specialist for our Neonatal and Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (NPICU).

The Royal Hobart Hospital is the State’s tertiary referral centre and is also the primary teaching hospital for the University of Tasmania School of Medicine. The Hospital has an NPICU caring for neonates, infants and children up to 14 years old who require intensive care. This mixed model of care, with both neonates and children receiving intensive care in the one unit, is unique in the Australian medical context, and is more akin to the ICU model practiced in many European centres.

A remuneration package comprising the Agreement base salary, relevant allowances and other entitlements will be negotiated with the successful applicants dependent on clinical experience and seniority.

The engagement is for a 12-month fixed-term contract with full-time day work (with on-call), working 76 hours per fortnight commencing 12 July 2021 (negotiable).

The Staff Specialist:

  • Provides clinical services of the highest possible standard to neonates, infants, children and their families.
  • Pursues improved outcomes for critically ill neonates, infants and children in Tasmania by participating in teaching and research relevant to paediatric and neonatal intensive care
