What You'll Be Doing

The Patient Safety Manager is responsible for enhancing the safety and quality of care for patients of Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital (BLH), in collaboration with other members of the Clinical Governance Unit and other key stakeholders. This requires effective leadership to influence and guide clinicians and managers in implementing clinical practice changes and evaluating outcomes of system and practice improvements across BLH services.

How To Apply

To be considered for this position, please ensure you address the selection criteria as thoroughly as possible.

  • Relevant tertiary clinical and health management, or quality improvement qualifications, or substantial work experience, or a combination of relevant work and study experience.
  • Demonstrated experience in high level analysis of complex issues, problem solving skills and understanding of evaluation techniques, including data use, research methodology and program evaluation
  • Demonstrate advanced experience in leading and implementing patient safety and quality systems and programs, such as incident management policies, management of databases such as the IMS+ database, Root Cause Analysis or other investigations and other relevant safety systems or programs
  • Demonstrate highly developed verbal and written communication, leadership and interpersonal skills with demonstrated experience developing effective professional relationships with internal and external stakeholders including liaising with and influencing stakeholders to adopt and implement continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing, influencing and implementing patient safety and clinical initiatives on a broad scale to reduce and prevent adverse events and improve patient outcomes
  • Demonstrate knowledge and ability to apply the principles of patient safety and human factors, risk management, incident management and quality improvement in a quality and safety framework within a clinical setting to ensure a learning safety culture is well embedded.
  • Demonstrated high level computer skills including information and database management.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide leadership as a resource person and role model in the clinical setting, being achieved through the development of professional relationships.
