The LHD is governed across 3 networks (Monaro, Tablelands & Coastal) which encompasses its 10 regional hospitals, Mental Health Inpatient Services, three multi-purpose services, and five community health centres provide patient care services across emergency, intensive care, maternity, mental health services, acute medical and surgical services and primary and community services. It extends from Goulburn and Crookwell to the borders of Victoria and the ACT, down to the pristine beaches of the NSW South Coast to the farmlands of the Southern Tablelands, across the Great Dividing Range and the Snowy Mountains, Southern NSW Local Health District (LHD) provides a diverse range of healthcare services to a population of approx. 207,000.

The Position & the Person

Reporting directly to the new Executive Director Operations for Southern NSW LHD, this newly created GM, Corporate Services & Projects position will have district wide responsibility for strategic leadership and management of a broad range of non-clinical services, functions and major projects; working with other senior executives to support the delivery of high-quality person-centred care and clinical services.

We are seeking a suitably experienced, energetic candidate that is clear communicator and experienced in establishing relationships to make their next move into a district wide GM position within an organisation that has a strong focus on renewal. The appointed candidate will work closely with the ED Operations and ELT in a position that covers the entire district in not only leading and facilitating the identification of both internal and external avenues of resource alignment and flow, but a proactive approach to bringing teams together and operationalising.

Selection Criteria

  • Relevant tertiary qualification, or equivalent work experience, or a combination of study and work experience. Proven track record of senior management experience across a broad range of health service functions.
  • Proven ability to work effectively across District wide Directorates, Networks, Services and Streams, senior executives, managers and staff
  • Demonstrated advanced interpersonal, verbal and written communication, consultation and negotiation skills to build and maintain collaborative relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated experience managing a budget and resources within a health environment.
  • Demonstrated planning, analytical, problem solving and report writing skills.
  • Demonstrated skills in project management and the ability to drive and deliver projects and initiatives on time
  • Demonstrated experience effectively managing staff, including demonstrated ability to lead, motivate and engage staff in different working groups.
  • Evidence of a current unrestricted driver's licence and the ability to maintain. Ability and willingness to drive/travel as the role requires. This may involve driving long distances and overnight stays.
