Outpatients Department at North West Regional Hospital is seeking applicants for the role of Clerk.

The role:

  • Provide a customer focused telephone and general reception service to the unit and the ability to communicate information in a timely manner to relevant persons. This includes responding to requests for information in accordance with the relevant legislation and Agency policies.
  • Provide administrative and clerical support to the unit and relevant manager. This includes responding to queries from internal and external stakeholders, word processing and using various databases.
  • Collect and manage the relevant patient medical records including the input and retrieval of data from the patient information management system, and admission, discharge, transfer, appointment scheduling, movements related to record tracking and updating of patient details as required.

The Outpatient Department at the North West Regional Hospital has 14 consulting rooms. We offer general medical, surgical, gynaecology, orthopaedic, respiratory, paediatric, stomal therapy, cardiology, cardiac rehab, neurology, neurosurgical, dermatology, endocrinology, infectious diseases, gerontology, nephrology, staff health, immunology, various procedure clinics and nurse led clinics. The team consists of administrative staff, nursing (EN and RN’s), graduate nurses, CNCs, Nurse Practitioner, and technicians. The environment is fast paced, ever changing and requires excellent time management skills on all levels.

Details of Appointment

Casual, Day Worker position working as and when required

Salary: 57,305 - 61,704 pro rata per annum + 9.5% superannuation + access to salary packaging

  • Salary range is in accordance with the Health and Human Services Award
  • Applicants should note that, for a period of six months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time and part time vacancies.


Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria:

  • Conviction checks in the following areas:
  • crimes of violence
  • sex related offences
  • serious drug offences
  • crimes involving dishonesty
  • Identification check
  • Disciplinary action in previous employment check.

Successful applicants may also meet the desirable criteria:

  • Successful Completion of, or a willingness to undertake, a recognised course in business/office administration and medical terminology.
  • Demonstrated experience in a healthcare setting.
