Position Summary

About The Role

You will be part of the Community Plus team, a recovery focused multi-disciplinary team who provides an extended hours clinical service to people who live within the municipalities of Wyndham, Hobson's Bay and Maribyrnong. In addition to experiencing significant mental illness/ mental health problems your clients will have other health and psycho social needs that significantly impact their wellbeing. With your team's support you will facilitate comprehensive responses for those needs.

  • Part Time Consultant Psychiatrist role. Days and times to be negotiated with successful applicant.
  • Based at our Saltwater Clinic in vibrant Footscray
  • Friendly, innovative, professional team who are dedicated to helping people
  • Recovery based service delivering evidence-based treatment for mental illness 7 days/week
  • Engagement with external service providers to develop integrated support systems

About You
  • Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists or equivalent.
  • Specialist Registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA).
  • You will have experience working with clients with complex and multifaceted care needs which may include comorbidities and high psychosocial needs. Prior experience working within services which cater to homeless client groups or within forensic settings may be useful.
  • You will have well-developed communication skills and be comfortable practicing within a Recovery Orientated Mental Health Service Framework.
  • You will have demonstrated clinical leadership skills.
  • Prior experience working in the Public Mental Health Service system will be of benefit.

Mercy Mental Health (South West Area Mental Health Service) is a public mental health service supporting people in south west metropolitan Melbourne with severe and complex mental illnesses by providing acute and community-based care. Services are available to adults through acute inpatient programs, residential rehabilitation programs and crisis and community recovery-focused treatment programs. We also deliver inpatient and community specialist perinatal mental health services to women and infants in western Victoria.
