Position Summary

About The Role

  • Part time (0.6 EFT) , Fixed Term 12 months
  • Job is shared between two sites 0.4 FTE at Clare Moore Building in Werribee and 0.2 FTE at Ursula Frayne Centre, in Footscray
  • Work within an innovative, professional team dedicated to helping people
  • Empower consumers to make their own choices about their treatment and recovery with an emphasis on building resilience
  • Utilise the safe wards model and the recovery plan in supporting, advocating and caring for consumers with a Mental Health illness as well as their families and carers
  • Assist consumers and their families to actively participate in their own identified recovery goals

About You
  • An experienced and compassionate team player who can provide support to consumers and family members during admission
  • A person-centred approach in providing practical assistance to clients to lead their own recovery process.
  • Lived experience of mental illness is an essential prerequisite for this role and a good understanding of peer support frameworks would be beneficial.
  • Good organisation and time management skills

About Us

Mercy Mental Health (South West Area Mental Health Service) is a public mental health service supporting people in south west metropolitan Melbourne with severe and complex mental illnesses by providing acute and community-based care. Services are available to adults through acute inpatient programs, residential rehabilitation programs and crisis and community recovery-focused treatment programs. We also deliver inpatient and community specialist perinatal mental health services to women and infants in western Victoria.
