About Monash Mental Health

Monash Health Mental Health Program provides a range of community, bed-based and specialist services covering the Casey, Cardinia, Greater Dandenong, Kingston and Monash LGAs – a population of nearly one million. It has an operational budget of $130 million and employs approximately 820 EFT, representing over 1000 staff.

The Program has a number of clinical units including three area mental health services (Casey, Dandenong and Clayton), an Early in Life Mental Health Service (comprising infant, child and adolescent), a Young Persons’ Mental Health Service (18 – 25 years), Psychology Specialist Services (PsySS), a Drug & Alcohol service, and five Prevention and Recovery Care Services (PARCS) across the Monash Health Network Catchment. The Program has a 24hr Psychiatric Triage Phone service covering all ages. There is also a Gender Dysphoria Clinic which is based at Clayton Campus. Southern Synergy, a part of the Mental Health Program, supports the Program’s research and quality improvement activities. The clinical service is supported by an aligned operational structure to enable the provision of high quality service through the creation of clinical-operational partnerships – to support staff, patients, carers and their families – as well as a strong professional structure that supports the governance of the health professional workforce. Together, we seek to deliver quality patient-centred health care and services that meet the needs of our diverse communities.

About the Role

We have a fantastic part-time fixed-term (12 months) opportunity due to parental leave. Our team has recently expanded and developed to be one of the leading services in this field. It is a friendly, vibrant and supportive team, which is in high demand internally and externally. Our Youth Consultation and Treatment Team (YCTT) works with young people and their families providing exceptional mental health care to people with complex mental health needs. Our team members are highly successful in seeking internal and external career progression opportunities due to the unique, comprehensive and high level blend of therapeutic, engagement and risk management skills they develop. This team operates from our community based clinic, which is located close to the award-winning Dandenong Hospital’s ART Building in the vibrant City of Dandenong. We are also co-located with Pakenham Headspace. A great location if you live in South-Eastern and Bayside suburbs, Frankston and Mornington Peninsula or Gippsland, with excellent connections to Monash Freeway, East Link, Princess Hwy and public transport.

About You

You are dedicated and passionate about youth mental health. You enjoy working with people who face complex issues and have a strong commitment to family inclusive practice. You have great skills in care coordination, family work and therapeutic, evidence-based interventions. You have skills in providing primary, secondary and tertiary consultation to services. You are have a resilient personality and you are a person who lives our iCARE values of integrity, compassion, accountability, respect and excellence.

We are looking for someone with:

  • Qualifications and relevant registrations in at least one of the following: Psychology, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Nursing (Div. 1), Speech Pathology.
  • Capacity to work independently and within a team
  • A friendly and professional attitude
  • Excellent engagement, relationship and therapeutic skills.
  • Resilience and strong work ethics

This is a Mental Health Clinician position as follows:

  • Psychologist – Grade 2 year 1-4
  • Social Worker – Grade 2 Year 1-4
  • Speech Pathologist – Grade 2 Year 1-4
  • Nurse – RPN 3 Year 1-5
  • OT – Grade 2 Year 1-4
