The Marie Bashir Clinical Research Fellowship in Adolescent Health is available at The Children's Hospital at Westmead for the 2022 Clinical Year, for up to 12 months, from 07 February 2022 to 05 February 2023. The work that the Fellow undertakes is a combination of clinical care and clinical research. The position would suit either a Paediatric or Adult Medicine Advanced Trainee, including trainees undertaking sub-specialty training where Adolescent and Young Adult patients might form a significant proportion of their clinical work. This position is accredited for advanced dual training in Adolescent and Young Adult Medicine through the Royal Australasian College of Physicians (RACP) for 6 months Core A and 6 months Core B. Interviews will be conducted virtually via videoconference. Selection Criteria:
  • MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
  • Registered with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians as an Advanced Trainee (AT) (or equivalent) preferable. Those registered with the RACP must have successfully completed both written and clinical components of the FRACP exam and preferably completed a minimum of six months as an Advanced Training at commencement.
  • 3-6 months experience in relevant subspecialty or equivalent preferable.
  • Completion of mandatory training as required by RACP or equivalent (if applicant registered with RACP) preferable.
  • Previous experience in either: a) clinical management of adolescents and/or some experience in adolescent health b) basic knowledge of clinical research processes and methods c) elected training pathway where adolescent and young adult medicine training relevant d) possible interest in RACP AYAM training.
  • Excellent communication skills and demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with other health professionals.
  • Ongoing commitment to further education and professional development and demonstrated ability to teach, and willingness to participate in the teaching of Medical Students, Junior Medical Staff and other clinical staff.
  • Demonstrated contribution to the development of hospital services e.g. participation in Paediatric Junior Staff matters, representation on behalf of the Hospital, participation in Hospital Committees preferable.
