The Provisional Fellow position in Paediatric Metabolic Genetics at SCHN is available for the 2022 Clinical Year, for up to 12 months, from 07 February 2022 to 05 February 2023. The position is accredited for advanced training and would be suitable for a candidate interested in a career in general or subspecialty training. The Genetic Metabolic Disorders Services at The Children's Hospital at Westmead (CHW) and Sydney Children's Hospital, Randwick (SCH), provide state-wide innovative diagnostic and management services for individuals with rare inborn errors of metabolism. The Provisional Fellow will participate in the clinical activities of the Genetic Metabolic Disorders Services, including, but not limited to, inpatient consultations, outpatient clinics, and participation in the after-hours on call, all of which will be under the supervision of the Metabolic Consultant on call at the time. The Provisional Fellow will be an active member of the multidisciplinary Genetic Metabolic Diseases Services at CHW and SCH.   • MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible for registration with the Medical Board of Australia in an appropriate registration category.
  • Successful completion of the FRACP (Paediatrics) Part 1 examinations or equivalent qualifications.
  • Excellent communication, leadership and teamwork skills with demonstrated ability to liaise effectively with other health professionals
  • Demonstrated high standard of patient care
  • Highly developed procedural skills
  • Advanced Paediatric Life Support or equivalent (Provider/Instructor); NSW Health mandatory Child Protection Training or equivalent
  • Understanding of Clinical Governance and demonstrated commitment to its application
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
