JOB DESCRIPTION

The Client

Community Transitions is a South Australian not-for-profit criminal justice organisation, with the core business of serving the most vulnerable clients in the community. Having recently secured funding, the organisation has partnered with Serco Group Plc to expand its offering into Western Australia. They are now looking for full time and part time Program Facilitators to be based in the medium security facility, Acacia Prison, located in Wooroloo in the Shire of Mundaring.

The Role
The Program Facilitators are responsible for co-facilitating established group-based programs and individual counselling to support the reintegration and rehabilitation of men in custody, as part of the throughcare support.

Responsibilities will include:

  • The delivery and coordination of high-quality criminogenic group interventions for;
  • o Alcohol and Other Drugs (i.e. Relapse Prevention, Readiness for Treatment, Assessment of Motivation / Motivation to Change etc.)
  • o Domestic & Family Violence (i.e. Safe Relationships, Readiness for Treatment,
  • o Gambling Harm (i.e. Relapse Prevention, Gambling Awareness
  • Counselling Interventions delivered in both group and individual, 1:1 setting.


Requirements
If you have a 4-year accredited degree in psychology or social work and knowledge and experience in supporting people who are experiencing high levels of need and disadvantage, you may be suitable for this opportunity. Additional requirements include:

  • Demonstrated experience empathising with disadvantaged people and those interfacing with the criminal justice system;
  • Ability to assess the needs of clients within a holistic framework;
  • Highly developed written skills and experience in preparing reports and maintaining accurate records;
  • Intake, interviewing and assessment skills;
  • Counselling and intervention skills, in both 1:1 and group-based environments;
  • Good knowledge of support services available for people with complex needs;
  • Experience and knowledge of the criminal justice system; and
  • Proven experience of delivering the highest levels of personal and professional integrity and ethical behaviour.
