The Manager, Genomics and Health Technology is responsible for managing the work and staff of the Genomics and Health Technology team.

The position has a key role in working closely with other areas of the department to align policy and commissioning of clinical genetics/genomics and high cost therapies, such as cellular and gene therapies, and managing key stakeholder relationships internal and external to government, including inter-jurisdictional networks. The position plays a key role in managing and contributing to all aspects of the Health Technology Program, including:

  • Providing advice and recommendations to government regarding health technology policy, investment and disinvestment decisions;
  • Liaising with health services, relevant departmental program areas and independent agencies concerning the assessment, introduction and evaluation of new and emerging health technologies in public hospitals;
  • Oversighting National Funding Centres Program funding, activity and evaluation; and
  • Liaison/partnership with Commonwealth, State and Territory health departments concerning national health technology policy development and implementation.
