About the Opportunity

  • The Clinical Midwife Specialist Grade 2 (CMS2) are crucial members of the Murrumbidgee Local Health District Nursing and Midwifery Workforce. The CMS2 is responsible for the provision of high level patient centred, evidence-based clinical nursing care and is expected to embrace and lead a practice development philosophy in the delivery of that care.
  • The CMS2 encompasses the core criteria of the CMS1 with additional characteristics of; exercises extended autonomy of decision making and exercises professional knowledge and judgement in providing complex care requiring advanced clinical skills. This outcome is achieved through undertaking comprehensive midwifery assessments, providing expert consultation and educational support in the designated area of clinical practice. The CMS2 is responsible for evaluation and supervision in the provision of complex midwifery care directed towards women within the designated area of clinical practice.
  • The CMS2 will demonstrate the ability to act as a professional role model, delivering a high level capacity for patient advocacy and cost benefit practice while demonstrating the ability to act as a change agent, provide effective clinical leadership and the ability to practice as an autonomous professional with the capacity to work within a multidisciplinary team environment.
  • This role is to provide support and education across the MLHD in relation to midwifery practice. Support the development of MLHD Policies, Procedures and Guidelines and support the implementation of the Maternal Transfer Redesign. Provide expert clinical advise to Midwives working in the rural sites across MLHD.
