AHP-1 Within the framework of the National Mental Health Policy and the Standards for Mental Health Services and in a manner consistent with the stated Vision and Values of SA Health, The Occupational Therapist works as part of the integrated multi-disciplinary team of the community mental health service undertaking care coordination and occupational therapy services. The Occupational Therapist undertakes care coordination and is responsible for the delivery of a range of other clinical activities, including care planning, clinical review, discipline specific assessment and intervention, psychosocial assessment mental health Assessments as pertaining within the Clinical Business Rules. The Occupational Therapist works collaboratively with consumers, their families/carers and may liaise closely with a network of government and non-government organisations to assist consumers whose severity of mental disorder and/or level of disability necessitates regular review and follow-up to facilitate improved functioning and community tenure.

AHP-2 Working as a part of a multi-disciplinary team, the AHP2 Occupational therapist is responsible for the delivery of evidence-based discipline-specific assessment, reports, consultation, individual and group intervention to enhance recovery orientated outcomes for consumers and their families and carers. Depending on work area, the Occupational therapist may also be responsible for providing clinical care coordination for consumers. The AHP2 Occupational Therapist demonstrates a proficient level of mental health professional knowledge and skill and participates in educational, quality improvement and planning activities and clinical supervision. These lead to improved clinical outcomes and goal attainment for consumers.
