About Australian Red Cross Lifeblood

Being a part of Lifeblood is more than just a job, it’s knowing you are part of a team contributing to our life-giving purpose.

At Lifeblood, our purpose is to provide life-giving products and our people make that possible. Did you know that we also help to facilitate the donation of tissue, organs, breast milk, and other life-giving biological products? Plus, we deliver world-class research and provide expertise in diagnostic, transplantation, and other clinical services.

Everyone at Lifeblood is united through the power of humanity to build a healthier nation.

Lifeblood has exciting life-giving opportunities for you

We are seeking a Registered Nurse who has fantastic customer-facing experience and a genuine passion to deliver an exceptional service that inspire customers to return time and again.

You can be rest assured that it is not a requirement to have previously had experience in canulation or venipuncture. We provide you with 10 weeks of paid, on-the-job training to ensure you have the skills and confidence to safely, efficiently and comfortably insert and remove needles to collect valuable blood and blood products.

Just imagine yourself joining one of our friendly and supportive Donor Centre teams in this rewarding role. You’ll warmly welcome and provide all of our amazing donors with a safe, comfortable and enjoyable donation experience. You will undertake assessments to ensure donors are eligible to donate. You will monitor and support donors during their donation and while in our Donor Centre, as well as assist them rebook for their next donation.

Our opportunity at the Ipswich Donor & Mobile Donor Centres is a permanent, part-time opportunity for 60 hour fortnight. We appreciate full availability for our rotating rosters across Mondays to Saturdays and you will be rostered to work on the Mobile Donor Centre which travels throughout the surrounding region.

Helping you to thrive both in and out of work:

As a Lifeblood employee, you can trust that we have your best interests at heart. Whether it’s workplace safety or work/life balance, we understand there’s no one-size-fits-all when it comes to wellbeing, which is why we’ve developed a range of initiatives to look after the varying needs of our people.

We offer great conditions of employment and generous salary packaging programs which allow you to make the most of your salary. We also have a rewards program offering discounts on movies, groceries, food & beverage, department stores and travel & leisure, as well as discounted health insurance, veterinary care and car hire.

We are a diverse and inclusive bunch and we encourage a heartfelt culture. We welcome different perspectives, backgrounds with open minds, because we understand that innovation thrives when different ideas meet. We’re proud to foster an environment where all people can come together to achieve their very best.

Next Steps

Our recruitment process is fast-paced. This means we progress suitable candidates through the hiring process as soon as we can. If your application is suitable but the role is filled prior to the advertising close date, you can rest assured that we will keep in touch and consider you for the next similar opportunity.

Because we are a regulated environment, as part of our recruitment process, you’ll be required to complete and clear a national (and in some cases, international) criminal history check, medical assessment, employment history check, and a validation of Australian working rights but don’t worry, we will help you through this process.

Salary is determined using the Lifeblood specific Nursing Enterprise Agreement.

COVID-19 Update

Lifeblood’s top priority is the safety of our donors, employees, volunteers and, of course, blood recipients. Blood and plasma donation remains absolutely vital, and as healthcare settings, our blood donor centres remain open and our teams are ready to welcome donors who are healthy and well.

Our donor centres are safe places and we’ve always adhered to strict sanitation protocols. In light of the current coronavirus pandemic, we’ve implemented further measures to help protect our donors and our teams too. For further information on this, please visit our website for updates.
