Critical Care Registered Nurse - ICU

  • Permanent and Fixed Term hours are available working a rotating roster of 8, 10 or 12 hour shifts

Your new team

  • The Intensive Care Unit provides a supportive and exciting learning environment.

  • The current state of the art ICU consists of 42 beds and provides care to over 2800 patients each year, including Cardio-thoracic, Trauma, Neurosurgical, Oncology and Medical-surgical patients.

  • The ICU facility within the Royal Melbourne Hospital providing services to the Victorian Comprehensive Cancer center partners, the Peter MacCallum Hospital and the Women’s hospital across the Parkville precinct.

Your success in this role, will be in your ability to

  • Ability to practice collaboratively as part of the multidisciplinary health care team

  • Provide high quality standards of patient care, including the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation for care 

  • Accept accountability for own actions and seek guidance if situations exceed the scope of practice of a Registered Nurse

  • Demonstrate knowledge/competency in performance of clinical skills relevant to level of expertise

  • Utilise available resources in the most cost effective manner and promotes and participates in quality activities.

Your Contribution

  • Postgraduate qualification in critical care nursing (ICU)

  • Current ICU Experience in an acute hospital

  • Current registration with Australian Health Practitioners Regulation Agency (AHPRA)

  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills

  • Enthusiastic and organised approach to work independently and within multi-disciplinary teams

  • Demonstrated provision of high quality patient centred care

  • Developed assessment, clinical reasoning, problem solving and prioritisation skills

  • High level of reliability and professional conduct within the Melbourne Health values

  • Demonstrated commitment to continuing professional development towards the nursing profession.
