Position Summary

A vacancy exists in TACP for a highly motivated Senior Speech Pathologist with appropriate knowledge and skills to join our friendly and supportive TACP team, which offers professional development opportunities . TACP provides slow stream, restorative care to patients with aged-related conditions living in the community. The successful applicant will be expected to demonstrate proficiency in managing speech pathology services for patients admitted to TACP, undertake a case management clinical load and develop and maintain effective collaboration with members of the multidisciplinary rehabilitation team and the broader speech pathology department.

The vacancy is open to Australian citizens, New Zealand citizens who hold a valid New Zealand passport, Australian permanent residents and those non-residents deemed by the Department of Immigration and Citizenship to be eligible to work in Australia only.

Selection Criteria
  • Personal integrity and demonstrated commitment to the Philosophy, Mission and Values of Mary Aikenhead Ministries and St Vincent’s Health Australia
  • Bachelor or post-graduate degree in Speech Pathology or equivalent and eligibility for full practicing membership of the Speech Pathology Australia Association
  • Class C unrestricted Driver's Licence
  • Demonstrated clinical expertise in the management of communication and swallowing disorders in complex aged care patients with chronic and neurological conditions, in the community setting, including implementation of evidenced based practice and outcome measures
  • Demonstrated proficiency in working autonomously with limited supervision and demonstrated ability to prioritise work, manage a demanding workload, apply high level reasoning skills and independent professional judgement
  • Demonstrated evidence of clear, concise written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a multidisciplinary team
  • Demonstrated experience in the provision of in-service education to health professionals, the clinical education of speech pathology students and to ongoing professional self-development.
  • Demonstrated experience in the development and implementation of service development and quality improvement activities that have led to improvements in clinical practice and patient outcomes
