The position of Provisional Fellow in Urogynaecology and Advanced Endoscopic Surgery at St Vincent’s Hospital involves substantial exposure to urogynaecological surgeries, advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic surgery and pelvic surgery. It also includes urodynamics, urogynaecological and other gynaecological research. It will also include a role in the inanimate laparoscopic training facility and endoscopic staff training programs. There will be a component of general and emergency gynaecological on call. The position offers the first Australian exposure to Da Vinci Robotic Surgery.

This role involves work across St Vincent’s campus including St Vincent’s Public Hospital, St Vincent’s Private Hospital and St Vincent’s Clinic.

There are two Fellow positions with 20 hours per week at the Public Hospital, 20 hours per week at St Vincent’s Private Hospital, after hour’s emergency on call and private hospital surgical training.

  • MBBS or equivalent, currently registered or eligible to be registered with the Medical Board of Australia.
  • Completion of 4 years of the Royal Australian New Zealand College of Obstetricians and Gynaecologists (FRANZCOG) and successful completion of the FRANZCOG Fellowship exam by commencement of the contract or equivalent and be accredited for Elective FRANZCOG training.
  • Sufficient clinical experience in order to undertake the clinical duties for clinical rotations, and proficiency in basic and advanced life support.
  • Advanced ability to work effectively as part of a multi-disciplinary team across facilities in the planning, delivery, coordination of patient care and participate in 24 hr shift work roster. Advanced communication skills, including the ability to convey, and adapt verbal and written information to a clinical and non-clinical audience
  • Advanced good organisational and time management skills and ability to manage competing priorities in a complex environment.
  • Demonstrated commitment to quality improvement, patient safety and risk management.
  • Advanced independent clinical skills and judgement, with the ability to make sound decisions and problem solve with an awareness of limitations and ability to learn independently and modify behaviour accordingly.
  • Previous experience in and willingness to deliver undergraduate and postgraduate medical education and training.
