The Role


We are seeking a Practice Manager who is ready for that next step in their career at our Medical Practice in Devonport. Someone with a background in a General Practice would be ideal however this experience is not essential. We can provide you with support from other Practice Managers within our business to ensure you are provided with the support you need to transition into this role. The Practice Manager is responsible for ensuring the smooth the day-to-day running of the skin cancer centre, overseeing the care of our patients, proactively supporting the growth of our business and leading the reception and nursing teams.


Acting as an ambassador to patients, staff, doctors and the general public, the PM is a pro-active leader who continuously seeks ways to improve and streamline centre processes, improve customer service and promote a positive work culture.


The Practice Manager is responsible for:


  • Building a high-performing team and maintaining a customer-focused culture within the practice
  • Managing patient queries/complaints
  • Fostering strong employee engagement and retention
  • Setting staff rosters
  • Running monthly staff meetings and quarterly doctor meetings
  • Pro-actively assisting in the sound management of the practice finances
  • Working closely with the Head of Marketing to develop and implement local marketing activities
  • Preparing reports for the management team as required

In addition, you have:


  • Prior practice management experience in a general practice, aesthetics, skin cancer clinic, allied health or related medical practice
  • Leadership skills with demonstrated experience supervising staff and managing doctor expectations
  • Superb time management skills and the ability to manage tasks simultaneously and adjust priorities as needed
  • Excellent customer service skills and a mature and sensitive approach when dealing with patients
  • Strong computer skills (experience with Best Practice would be beneficial)
  • A "can do" attitude

Please note that as this role does not require any formal Practice Management qualifications.
