Sydney Local Health District (SLHD) is seeking a dynamic Registered Nurse to join our team at Royal Prince Alfred Hospital!

Do you have current nursing registration with the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia (AHPRA) and demonstrated understanding of evidence informed practice and critical thinking?

The Registered Nurse is responsible for the provision of patient centred; evidence informed nursing care that promotes identified health outcomes. The Registered Nurse will assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care in collaboration with individuals and the multidisciplinary healthcare team.

This is a multi-skilled nursing role principally involving clinical testing of Neuroscience patients in both the ambulatory and inpatient setting, working within the Neuroscience Ambulatory Care Unit.

Clinical practice will include the recording of EEGs in various clinical locations, monitoring long term Video EEG Telemetry, tests required to diagnose disorders associated with Hearing and Balance, Autonomic Function Studies, Evoked Potentials, the administration of intravenous injections and working within the IV Infusion Clinic or any other testing which may become available as part of the diagnostic procedure within the Neurosciences Ambulatory Care Unit.

Additionally, other testing associated with Neurosciences including contributing to the operational management of the ENT and Ophthalmology clinics as required by the Nursing Unit Manager. It will be necessary to liaise with clinicians and other health professionals and to provide education and support to patients and relatives attending the Department for testing or treatment.

To Be Considered For This Role You Must Have:

  • Recent experience in the field of Neuroscience in an acute hospital setting.
  • Ability to work clinic hours, Monday to Friday 8:00am-5:00pm and participate in the on-call after hours rotating roster.
