An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant/Senior Consultant to join a team of Palliative Physicians in the Central Adelaide Palliative Care Service (CAPCS)across The Queen Elizabeth and Royal Adelaide Hospitals and corresponding rural and peri-urban catchments. The CAPCS is a multi-disciplinary team that employs a range of healthcare professionals including Registered Nurses, Social Workers, Occupational Therapists, Pharmacists, Art Therapists and administrative staff. 

You will provide clinical leadership and contribute to the provision of safe, best practice clinical services to patients of, and referred to, Central Adelaide Palliative Care Services (CAPCS). The Service provides consultation liaison and inpatient services at the Royal Adelaide Hospital and The Queen Elizabeth Hospital, and consultation to patients in homes and residential aged care facilities in the Central Adelaide Local Health Network region. CAPCS has a special interest in service provision for vulnerable populations within the community, such as prisons, the homeless, migrants and indigenous Australians.

Ensuring best practice in the design and delivery of clinical services to patients, you will foster the development of community networks appropriate to the Service’s work. You will participate in clinical services to regional and peri-urban South Australia and other catchments, via a range of communication methods including teleconferencing and on-site visiting sessions. As part of your role, you will be expected to contribute to teaching and training at undergraduate and postgraduate levels, and to participate in the CAPCS on-call after-hours roster.

You will need to hold a specialist medical qualification in the relevant specialty, and be a Fellow of the Royal Australian College of Physicians (Palliative Medicine sub specialty) or Fellow of the Chapter of Palliative Medicine of the Royal Australian College of Physicians. Demonstrating clinical excellence and a high degree of professional integrity, you will have the ability to communicate effectively to all levels of staff within a multidisciplinary clinical team. You will bring the capacity to maintain a strong spirit of cooperation with all co-workers while retaining a primary focus on the provision of patient care.
