  • About Our Client

    My client specialises in delivering programs for children and adolescents diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder and their families. They are the largest Autism specific service in Australia ad have been providing services for nearly 50 years. They recognise that having autism not only affects the child but affects the whole family and therefore all programs delivered are family centred. They work alongside families to provide Autism education and skill sot assist the children and parents or carers on their journey. Their key focus is to provide opportunities for toddlers to adolescents to become the best they can be.

    Job Description

  • Behaving in accordance with the client't service Values - Excellence, Integrity, Support, and Empowerment
  • Planning and providing therapy to children with an ASD in a trans-disciplinary group environment
  • Providing family service coordination to allocated families
  • Providing information regarding the role of the Speech pathologist to families
  • Providing individual and/or group therapy to children in line with identified family centred goals
  • Speech and Language skills assessments as well as play skills observations
  • Documenting all assessment and intervention information, including therapy reports, to a high standard, consistent with the client's policies.
  • Undertaking education sessions to families, team members and community members to improve outcomes for children with an ASD
  • Undertaking ongoing professional development to work towards the below competencies
  • Attending and contributing to regular discipline specific meetings.
  • Contributing to discipline specific and the client's wide planning and evaluation of services
  • Participating in clinical supervision and mentoring sessions
  • To provide clinical supervision to more junior staff members
  • To provide student supervision
  • To participate in Quality Improvement activities on an ongoing basis
  • To display a commitment to self-directed learning
  • To lead or co-lead a specific program e.g. feeding group, basketball program.

  • The Successful Applicant

    Essential Competencies/Qualifications
    • Speech Pathology Qualification and eligibility for practising membership of Speech Pathology Australia.
    • Experience in Paediatric Speech Pathology service provision.
    • Applicants must undergo a Working with children check.
    • Current driver's license.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • High level negotiation, conflict resolution and problem solving skills.
    • Commitment to providing services to people from diverse language/cultural backgrounds.

    • Experience in speech path service provision to children with ASD and/or developmental disabilities.
    • Awareness of principles of, and dedication to evidence-based practice.
    • Awareness of the principles of family centred practice.
    • ESDM, ADOS, Hanen training.
    • Experience in speech path diagnostic assessments.
