Joining the team at Whyalla Hospital, you will provide clinical, educational and professional mental health services within the general medical and emergency department settings. Working in partnership with a range of stakeholders from regional South Australia and the Rural and Remote Mental Health Service (RRMHS), you will support the development of mental health clinicians in the Flinders and Upper North Local Health Network to provide an integrated mental health response. You will work closely with the Community Mental Health Teams and be responsible for providing education and mentoring to staff to improve their skills in managing mental health consumers. As an expert in mental health nursing, you will have a significant degree of autonomy and decision making in the role. It is expected that you will provide clinical leadership to nurses and coordinate or lead projects and programs that contribute clinical expertise to improving consumer/service outcomes. You will accept accountability for your mental health nursing practice, the outcomes of nursing practices, the professional advice given, delegations of care made, and for addressing inconsistencies between practice and policy.
You will be registered or eligible for registration as a Nurse by the Nursing and Midwifery Board of Australia and hold a current practicing certificate, along with a Graduate Diploma in Mental Health Nursing or equivalent. Demonstrating expertise in the mental health nursing practice, you will be confident in providing supervision and leadership to multidisciplinary staff, student nurses, Enrolled Nurses and less experienced Registered Nurses. Your highly developed skills in communication, problem solving, conflict resolution and negotiation will hold you in good stead for this role.
