The Early Childhood Intervention Service (ECIS) provides client-centred, strengths-based services to children and adolescents from birth to 12 years old with a disability or developmental delay. We value the importance of transdisciplinary/multidisciplinary models of practice, with our team consisting of Occupational Therapists, Speech Pathologists, Physiotherapists, Music Therapists, Psychologists, Play Therapists and Specialist Childhood Educators.

Our dedicated team provides a high quality, evidence based Early Childhood Intervention Service that is co-designed with the family, meeting the needs of the children and families in a manner which respects the rights and confidentiality of the child and their family.

Whether you are a qualified and experienced OT, Speech Pathologist, Psychologist, Specialist Childhood Educator or Music Therapist, a typical day in the role will include:

  • Working in partnership and collaboration with all those associated with the child/family to provide timely and developmentally appropriate services using a Team around the Child Approach
  • Maintaining communication with all authorised key stakeholders relevant to a child and family’s team. These stakeholders will include the family, other DPV ECIS staff and community team members e.g. Preschool and childcare staff.
  • Embracing innovation and responsiveness in your approach
  • Upholding the DPV Health Values in all interactions and outcomes.



About you

To be successful in one of these roles, you will bring

  • A Bachelor or Masters qualification in the relevant discipline, from a recognised university
  • Current unconditional registration as a Psychologist with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA)
  • Ability to work with children 0-12 years old
  • A passion for working with children and families!
  • Reliable interpersonal skills and the ability to form a good working relationship with a variety of families with young children with developmental disabilities, DPV colleagues and staff employed in community early childhood settings
  • Well-developed clinical skills in paediatric services
  • Awareness of the Key Worker model and transdisciplinary practice
  • Understanding of family centred practice and strengths-based approach
