About The Mental Health Department

St Vincent’s is proud of its International reputation for delivery of Mental Health Services and the values of the St Vincent Health Australia. The Mental Health Service includes a 44 bed adult acute inpatient unit for the cities of Yarra and Boroondara; the Koori state-wide Inpatient Mental Health Service; Continuing Care Teams; a Crisis Assessment Team; ED Mental Health and Psychiatric Triage; Prevention and Recovery Care Service (PARC); Footbridge Community Care Unit; the Primary Intervention Care Team (PICT) that includes Extended Triage and HOPE (Suicide Prevention); Mobile Support Teams; Clarendon Homeless Outreach Psychiatric Service (CHOPS); Victorian Dual Diagnosis Service (VDDS); Body Image Eating Disorders Treatment and Recovery Service (BETRS) and NEXUS (Concurrent Mental Illness and Substance Use Advisory Service); Consultation & Liaison Service and Victorian Transcultural Mental Health (VTMH) and NEVIL Training Cluster.

About The Group Program And Your Role

With direction from the Acute Inpatient Service NUM’s and in collaboration with the Occupational Therapists, and other designated group staff, you will plan, develop and consolidate the activities program for the Inpatient Service, with a particular emphasis on enabling the participation of a variety of staff in individual and group activities.

Your day to day care work and activities will actively contribute to the development and implementation of Recovery Principles. The Group Program is designed to enable the consumer to build on their recovery, explore therapeutic options and identify other supports if needed.

The classification for this position is PE50 - PE53 ($68,369.60 - $72,924.80 pro rata).

Qualifications, Skills And Experience
  • Certificate, Diploma or Degree in Nursing which meets the registration requirements of the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency, Division 2
  • Medication Endorsement.
  • A current Victorian Driver’s License
  • Demonstrated ability to work with and an understanding of the role of the group program
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability and conflict resolution skills working with limited supervision.
  • Highly developed interpersonal and communication skills, including sound oral and writing skills.
  • A lived experience of mental illness
