An opportunity to join our winemaking team has opened up for an Assistant Winemaker
Job Requirements

An opportunity to join our winemaking team has opened up for an Assistant Winemaker.

Key responsibilities will include:
  • Management of the cellar work programme based on cellar work sheets
  • Supervision and assistance of cellar work as required
  • Management and implementation of winery hygiene
  • Maintain a tidy, functional and well-presented work environment within and in the immediate vicinity of the winery
  • Provide support in all aspects of the winery laboratory as required
  • Keep well-informed of and embrace technical developments in the industry
  • Ensure all record keeping and procedures are following the Cape Jaffa Wines HACCP accreditation.
  • Assist in all of the laboratory technical analysis during the winemaking process, grape intake, wine maturation and report to the winemakers and wines that do not satisfy technical specifications, as set out by the winemakers.
  • Assist in maintaining a high level of quality control measures in the lab, by liaising with and cross referencing, other labs to ensure CJW results are accurate.
  • Organise and assist in the maintenance of all lab equipment.
  • Assist in the production of all wine including all cellar operations and cleaning as required.
  • To assist in public tasting and the promotion of Cape Jaffa Wines when required.
To be considered for the role, key requirements include:
  • 2 - 5 years’ experience in associated areas
  • Highly developed organizational skills
  • Strong work ethic and high level of self-motivation
