JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Primary duties and responsibilities:
Legal, Ethical and Professional Conduct
  • Act within level of competence and refers when appropriate
  • Recognise responsibilities and lines of accountability
  • Behave in a responsible and professional way (e.g. client and professional relationships, confidentiality, ethical decision making, complaint procedures)
  • Demonstrate independent management of professional affairs - able to work autonomously with minimal direction and instruction
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to different cultural and indigenous values
  • Demonstrate knowledge and application of the relevant legislation
  • Demonstrate knowledge and application of the relevant ethical codes and guidelines (including key ethical issues of competence, professional roles and relationships, record keeping, dual relationships, confidentiality, terminating professional relationships)
Assessment and Measurement
  • Conduct psychological assessments as directed by Clinical Director
  • Interpret test results and prepare written reports
  • Demonstrate understanding of limitations of standardised tests and their psychometric and normative basis
  • Demonstrate understanding of culturally and linguistically appropriate test use and interpretation
Service Delivery
  • Make necessary psychological formulations
  • Develop and/or plan preventative, developmental, remedial or other services in line within a positive psychological framework
  • Adopt culturally and linguistically appropriate interventions
  • Adopt evidence-based interventions when available
  • Work sensitively with employees, carers and families of clients where appropriate
  • Implement services underpinned by strength-based theory and practice
  • Demonstrate competence in basic counselling skills and utilise them in therapeutic service delivery
  • Monitor, process and review restricted/restrictive practices
  • Review selected behaviour support plans based on the individual needs of clients
  • Participate in designated managerial meetings/sessions as requested by the Clinical Director
  • Identify, monitor and assist in the allocation of resources to intervention implementation programs
  • Provide consultancy to identified persons or groups as requested by the Clinical Director
  • Maintain updated records within identified electronic data base platforms
  • Maintain accurate billing records
  • Adhere to billing policies and procedures
  • Conduct risk assessments on select clients
  • Work collaboratively within the Out of Home Care (OHC) Sector
  • Work in professional collaboration with AC psychologists, psychiatric consultants, AC Clinical Director, and other professionals in the provision of comprehensive services to clients
Communication
  • Establish good rapport with clients
  • Demonstrate excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Keep records that meet health system and legislation requirements
  • Prepare and deliver training to staff, as required
  • Work in positive collaboration with the Clinical Director, AC colleagues and outside agencies to promote quality clinical service delivery to all stakeholders
Professional Development
  • Maintain and update knowledge and skills
  • Access and critically interpret a range of sources of knowledge
  • Collect data that promotes effective service delivery
  • Integrate evidence-based research into professional activity
  • Participate in weekly debriefing and planning sessions with the Clinical Director as scheduled
Supervision Requirements
  • Complete all tasks under the direct supervision of the Director of Clinical Services or the identified designee(s)
  • Participate in required supervision with Board of Certified Behaviour Analyst
Essential
  • Qualifications in Psychology or a related field and,
  • One-year experience (preferred) in the community services industry or a related field, or
  • Experience as determined by Human Resources
  • Willingness to obtain BCABA or BCaBA designation according to guidelines set forth under the BACB at www.bacb.com
Must have these documents if successful
  • Working with Children Check
  • National Police Check
  • Drivers License
  • Comprehensively insured vehicle
  • First Aid Certificate
  • Hold full AHPRA registration as a Registered Psychologist
  • Must be eligible to register and bill under the NDIA and Medicare
