The Role

Northern Health Ear, Nose & Throat (ENT) Unit is seeking surgeons interested in joining our vibrant and busy team supporting our culturally rich and diverse northern community at Northern Hospital Epping, and Broadmeadows Hospital.

Your experience will be rewarded with a diverse range of elective and emergency conditions in the paediatric and adult population. The ENT service is a valued part of the surgical division and there is strong support to develop the service to accommodate an accredited trainee. There is close collaboration with the ENT service at The Austin, which provide afterhours support (there are no on call duties performed by the unit).

The Unit is supported by accredited and non-accredited registers, HMOs and interns ensuring that education and research are as strongly supported as clinical work. Northern Health is growing with the opening of the Tower build and expansion of services at Craigieburn Hospital with a new elective and emergency hospital in the planning stages. Surgeons interested in applying are directed to the PD. We have both Locum and Permanent positions available due to current vacancies within the ENT Unit.

To Be Successful In This Role You Will Have

This position provides clinical, professional and academic leadership in the discipline of ENT. The appointee is an exemplar as a head of unit and will lead the unit and also support the Division’s operational, quality and safety, financial, teaching, training and research activities.

The Head of Unit has responsibility for the effective management and leadership of the Ear, Nose & Throat and the provision of services across Northern Health consistent with NH Strategic and Clinical Services plans.

In conjunction with Divisional Director Surgery, ENT Unit must review and consolidate the organisational structure of the Unit including the role of accredited registrar, junior staff, as well as, allied health support. In consultation with Divisional Director Surgery must appoint medical staff with clinical skills that support the needs of the northern population.
