JOB DESCRIPTION

Purpose of Role

The primary purpose of the Neuromodulation Regional Clinical Excellence Manager role is to provide expert clinical consulting and training services to neurosurgeons, neurologists, orthopaedic surgeons, specialist interventional pain specialists and clinical nurses within the surgical field of neuromodulation.

Key Responsibilities 

In this role, you will be responsible to provide:

  • In-person pre-operative education for patients who are scheduled for the surgical implantation of a spinal cord and/or deep brain neuromodulation systems.
  • In-person complex operative technical support for surgeons/specialist interventional physicians to optimise surgical implantation of spinal cord and/or deep brain electrodes / internal pulse generators. Complex intra-operative neuromodulation system testing is essential to ensure the electrodes are positioned for therapy effectiveness.
  • In-person medical device programming for patients with spinal cord and/or deep brain neuromodulation systems to ensure effectiveness of therapy and reduce unwanted patient side effects.
  • In-person and telephonic post-operative technical support for patients, surgeons/interventional physicians ensure effectiveness of therapy, and reduce unwanted patient side effects.
  • In-person and telephonic clinical training for hospital clinical staff for in-theatre surgical workflow, surgical implantation of electrodes / internal pulse generators, and post-operative management of patients with neuromodulation systems.

You will also be responsible for

  • Complex operating theatre technical support for Neurosurgeons, Neurologists, Orthopaedic Surgeons, Specialist Interventional Pain Specialists, and Nurses during the surgical implantation of spinal cord and/or deep brain electrodes / internal pulse generators of a neuromodulation system.
  • Complex intra-operative neuromodulation system testing to ensure the electrodes are positioned for therapy effectiveness.
  • Undertaking clinical training via delivering hands on surgical cadaveric training, quality medical/scientific education presentations, and state of the art virtual reality training systems while respecting local regulations and compliance rules.
  • Leading and developing Boston Scientific's clinical training services and curriculum in the surgical field of Neuromodulation with emphasis on Spinal Cord Stimulation, Deep Brain Stimulation, and Radio Frequency Ablation. Partner with physicians and patients through expert consulting on innovative medical technology solutions and advanced surgical procedures that help treat patients suffering from chronic, intractable pain and addresses a critical need for effective, drug free pain management options.
  • Formulating and recommending best practices to Neurosurgeons, Neurologists, Orthopaedic Surgeons, Specialist Interventional Pain Specialists, and Clinic Nurses to help improve efficiency, patient flow and patient care in chronic pain and movement disorder specialist clinics.
  • Managing and providing technical support for clinical trial activity within assigned territory by supporting the site authorization process and study procedures as defined in the clinical investigational plan.
  • Developing and conducts product training curriculum and education programs for Boston Scientific field clinical staff including clinical specialists and territory managers.
  • Monitoring the training of Boston Scientific field clinical staff by reviewing job requirements and other knowledge requirements as outlined in the training plan to ensure employees are properly trained in product, processes, and procedures.
  • Planning performance & development coaching (PDC)
  • Facilitating and delivering CORE () training, advanced clinical and sales training and Emerging Leaders training. 
  • Facilitating surgeon workshops
  • Conducting regular business reviews with regional team members, including strategizing and implementing sales and marketing plans to attain regional sales objectives

Key Competencies Required for Success

  • Minimum 10 years of neuromodulation experience working in surgical procedures as a technical advisor to neurosurgeons, neurologists, orthopedic surgeons, & specialist interventional pain physicians.
  • Health professional level understanding of human anatomy and physiology specifically focused on the musculoskeletal and nervous systems.
  • Extensive experience working with chronic pain and movement disorder patients, including high level of understanding of and ability on spinal cord and/or deep brain neuromodulation system programming.
  • International experience in complex chronic pain and movement disorder practices and management. In-depth knowledge of patient awareness, patient selection, patient and surgical workflow to consult with local physicians on their practice efficiency.
  • Exhibit strong sales performance, clinical excellence, and ongoing competitive knowledge in the neuromodulation field of surgery.
  • Proven management experience or related leadership experience in the neuromodulation field of surgery. Must possess the ability to determine and set direction. Adapting clinical strategies to identify new opportunities or direct changes in real-time.
  • Must have strong neurosurgeon, neurologist, orthopedic surgeon, and specialist interventional pain physician relationships with the ability to build new longstanding relationships by providing value.
  • Bachelor’s degree required.
