Key Clinician/Occupational Therapist



  • Ongoing full time opportunity for a motivated Occupational Therapist with recent mental health experience.


  • Join the Western Aged Psychiatry Assessment and Treatment Team (APATT) in Sunshine for a dynamic, autonomous, challenging role with a dedicated group of colleagues.

We are a designated state-wide provider for services including trauma, and we lead centres of excellence for tertiary services in several key specialties including neurosciences, nephrology, oncology, cardiology and virtual health.



Your New Team



  • The Aged Persons’ Mental Health Program (APMHP) provides information, support and specialist mental health services to older people aged 65 and over.

  • Western APATT are a dynamic, thoughtful multidisciplinary team who strive to make life better for the people we work with, their families and carers

  • The team is committed to working with consumers during their recovery by offering holistic and evidence based treatment, which is inclusive of family/carers and provided by clinicians with well-developed skills.

  • Sharing an Occupational Therapy perspective with multidisciplinary team in clinical review meetings and via primary and secondary consultation as required


Your success in this role, will be in your ability to



  • Assessing and responding to the mental health needs of consumers on your case load, and regularly liaising with the consumer, family, treating team, GP and other care providers

  • Engaging with consumers and their families/carers in the development and delivery of recovery focused care, including evidence based interventions specifically and individually targeted to the consumers identified needs

  • Supporting the intake function of the team, responding to referrals and undertaking new assessments


Your Contribution



  • A clinician with post graduate experience, you have a passion for caring and making a genuine difference in the lives of public mental health consumers.

  • You are committed to continued learning and broadening of your skills and can demonstrate knowledge of evidence based interventions appropriate to low prevalence disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar affective disorder, personality disorder and substance abuse.

  • You enjoy being part of a dynamic team yet are confident to work autonomously.

  • You collaborate and communicate clearly and effectively
