JOB DESCRIPTION

Children's Health Queensland Hospital and Health Service (CHQ HHS) is a recognised leader in paediatric healthcare, teaching and research. With a dedicated team of more than 4,500 people, our point of difference is in the way we provide care to children, young people and their families every day. This is through our steadfast commitment to providing patient and family-centred care at every level of our service and our continuous drive for service and operational excellence.

Are you passionate about outcomes for children and young people across Queensland?

We're committed to providing life-changing healthcare for children and young people for a healthier tomorrow.

About The Child And Youth Mental Health Service

The Child and Youth Mental Health Service (CYMHS) at Children's Health Queensland specialises in helping infants, children and young people up to the age of 18 years who have complex mental health needs.

CYMHS works collaboratively and in a recovery-oriented way with infants, children and young people and their families. This means we recognise and help build on individual and family strengths for better health and wellbeing. By working together, we support children, young people and families to get back on track to reach their optimal mental health.

CYMHS has a number of teams across the Greater Brisbane and Pine Rivers regions. We serve our local communities, and we outreach across Queensland through some of our specialist programs. We provide community and hospital based services, outreach and telepsychiatry programs, early intervention, forensic and other specialty services.

Each year CYMHS takes pride in providing quality mental health services to more than 2500 Queensland children and young people, and their families.

Jacaranda Place - Queensland Adolescent Extended Treatment Centre (QAETC) is a purpose built 12 bed state-wide extended treatment inpatient unit and co-located day program, governed and operated by CHQ on the grounds of The Prince Charles Hospital, Brisbane. Jacaranda Place delivers safe and responsive mental health care that effectively supports and enhances the mental health and wellbeing of young people aged between 13-18 years of age, with consideration of extending to 21 years of age, based on a young person's developmental age.

Jacaranda Place delivers mental health care integrated with educational and vocational training to young people in a safe and therapeutic setting by a multidisciplinary team, providing diagnostic assessment, and individualised, family and group evidence-informed clinical interventions and therapies. Jacaranda Place has integrated onsite schooling provided by the Department of Education, to support the educational and vocational needs of both the inpatient and day program young people.

The Nurse Unit Manager (NUM) is accountable at an advanced practice level for leading and coordinating the Jacaranda Place Service to achieve best practice standards for clinical practice, patient centred care within a Healthcare team and is responsible for the provision of effective and efficient human, material and financial resource management.
