JOB DESCRIPTION

  • Women’s and Children’s Health Network - Surgical Services - Paediatric Surgery
  • Temporary – Multiple Positions – Full time - (From 7 February 2022 - 5 February 2023) 
  • Indicative Total Remuneration $97,548 -$158,330 - MDP2

You will rotate through a series of surgical placements within the Women's & Children's Health Network which are designed to provide exposure to various acute surgical environments whilst contributing to the provision of clinical services to Paediatric Surgery inpatients and outpatients, including afterhours roster as required. Demonstrating a commitment to clinical teaching, you will also participate in associated research projects. Under supervision of the relevant Consultant, you will perform assessment of new admissions, care coordination, and management of the day to day progress of assigned patients in the ward. As well as participating in discharge and follow up arrangements, you will contribute to the assessment and management of paediatric emergencies, and help to organise, correlate and interpret investigations as required. Being part of the tertiary paediatric services to South Australia, this is a valuable chance to gain access to extensive postgraduate education opportunities. The incumbent will spend 6 months working in Paediatric General Surgery/Urology and have the opportunity to preference two other Paediatric Surgical rotations.

Holding a MBBS or equivalent qualification, you will be registrable with the Medical Board of Australia as a Medical Practitioner. With prior experience as an Intern in a recognised teaching hospital, you will possess the clinical skills required for the duties performed in the Paediatric Surgery unit. Your strong communication skills will equip you to interact effectively with patients and work as part of a team within a multidisciplinary environment. Excellent problem solving and decision making skills at both the clinical and individual level will hold you in good stead for this role.
