Full Job Description
Working within fast-paced team, this position will require the highest standards of professionalism as you contribute your expertise. Ideally, your previous experience will come from disability services, law, social and human services, health, employment or human rights.

Your highly developed inter-personal and communication skills, (both written and verbal) along with highly developed critical thinking and analysis skills is a distinct advantage. Moreover, your experience in any of the areas below will be highly regarded:

Along with many other responsibilities, The Private Session team is accountable for:

Designing policy and processes related to private sessions, including producing practice guidelines and strategies that aim to ensure that we capture the individual experiences of a diverse range of people with disability
Working with the Community Engagement Team and Engagement Branch to ensure that people with disability are given the opportunity to provide their individual experiences
Working with the Communications and Media Team to develop explanatory material and to ensure that external-facing information remains current
Managing requests for private sessions, including assessing whether a person is within the Terms of Reference
Scheduling and arranging private sessions
Creating a record of each private session, including drafting summaries and coding and analysing the information captured
Creating a public record of private sessions, including producing de-identified narratives and messages to AustraliaIs conducted in a way that respects the inherent dignity and individual autonomy of people with disability;
Attending all private sessions with Commissioners
Creating private session briefs, which include relevant information about the person’s experiences, institutions involved and any other contextual resources
Working collaboratively with the Intake Team, Access and Inclusion Branch, Counselling and Support Team and the Security and Site Management Team to ensure that private sessions are well organised, appropriately adjusted for people with disability, trauma informed and safe
The APS 6, Private Sessions Officer, is expected, under limited direction to:

Complete private session scheduling
Working collaboratively with the Intake, Counselling and Support Team and the Security and Site Management Team to ensure that private sessions are well organised, appropriately adjusted for people with disability, trauma informed and safe
Model agility and resilience in responding to high workloads, changing demands and challenging subject matte
Exemplify collaborative working relationships across teams
Provide leadership within the Private Sessions Team and assist in the implementation of team strategies and guidelines
Where required, assist with community engagement activities
Where required, assist with drafting and updating external facing resources
Assist with the development of private sessions procedures

The successful applicant will demonstrate:
The ability to work effectively in high pressure environments with changing priorities, high workloads and tight timeframes
A capacity to effectively work in and contribute to a rapidly evolving, agile and forward thinking environment
The ability to liaise widely and develop productive working relationships with internal and stakeholders
An ability to quickly gain a thorough understanding of the private session principles, processes and practices

Excellent written and verbal communication skills
The position is based in Brisbane, with frequent intrastate travel involved including to regional and remote locations.
