The Role

The part time 0.3 EFT fixed term 6 month Paediatric Gastroenterologist will provide clinical care to paediatric patients with a full range of gastrointestinal, nutritional and liver conditions, including complex tertiary level gastroenterology such as Liver and Intestinal Transplantation.
The role contributes to the provision of out-patient services (both on-campus and telehealth) and may involve participating in the provision on an on-call service. Collaboration with other services within and without RCH to develop a more patient centred, standardised and sustainable model of care is expected.
Contribution to existing research in collaboration with the key campus partners of the University of Melbourne and the Murdoch Children's Research Institute with ample opportunity to initiate new research streams will be a key focus of this role.

You Will Be Responsible For

  • Clinical management of the full range of gastrointestinal, nutritional and liver conditions, including complex tertiary level gastroenterology such as Liver and Intestinal Transplantation
  • Contributing to the development of models of clinical care for Gastroenterological conditions to enhance the quality of that care whilst maximising efficient use of available resources
  • Effective communication with other healthcare providers and consumers including but not limited to referring paediatricians, family practitioners, junior and senior medical staff, nursing, paramedical, clerical staff, families and patients

You Will Have
  • Fellowship with the Royal Australasian College of Physicians or equivalent qualification (FRACP or equivalent)
  • Post fellowship training in paediatric Gastroenterology is essential
  • Demonstrated capacity to work harmoniously and collaboratively within a team environment
  • Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills
  • Demonstrated experience in the care of patients with liver transplantation
  • Specialist Medical Registration with AHPRA
