Staff Specialist - General Orthopaedics Mackay

Remuneration value up to $445,059 p.a. comprising salary between $8237.00 p.f. - $8733.20 p.f. (L25-L27) or remuneration value up to $407,082 p.a. comprising salary between $6888.00 p.f. - $8000.80 p.f. (L18-L24); employer superannuation contribution (up to 12.75%), annual leave loading (17.5%), attraction and retention incentive allowance, professional development allowance, professional development leave 3.6 weeks p.a., professional indemnity cover, plus overtime and on-call allowances.

Duties

Manage an allocated workload to deliver high level specialist orthopaedic clinical services within a multidisciplinary team in accordance with prescribed professional and ethical standards of the Royal Australian College of Surgeons (RACS) and Australian Orthopaedics Association.
Provide, supervise and be responsible for the provision of clinical duties within the Department of Orthopaedics including inpatient care, pre- and post-operation, outpatient care, community care.
Uphold competency or proficiency in the nine RACS competency areas.
Promote and participate in outreach to rural facilities in the Whitsunday area (Bowen and Proserpine).
Participate in the after-hours on-call roster as required.
Develop and be actively involved in clinical audit, research and the quality assurance programming.
Provide leave relief as the Clinical Director as required.
Contribute actively in the education and training of interns and junior medical staff in Orthopaedics/ Surgical disciplines.
Identify and contribute to the development of evidence based clinical practice, procedures, protocols and education materials to improve the delivery of clinical services and support the continuum of care and the provision of a multi-disciplinary health service.
Actively participate in the development, review and implementation of policies and procedures for the provision of Orthopaedic services.
Develop clinical practice knowledge, skills and expertise through self-directed learning and actively engaging in professional development activities, including acting as a mentor and performance appraisal and development plans.
