About Department

The Ear, Nose and Throat (ENT), Head and Neck Surgical Unit is accountable for the delivery of supervised clinical services to SVHM’s patients, through providing timely access to high quality clinical services for both emergency and elective patients, contributing to service evaluation and displaying a commitment to ongoing learning and professional development.

About The Role

The Surgical Unaccredited Otolaryngologist/ENT Registrar would provide the day to day clinical management of patients under the supervision and direction of the Director of Otolaryngologist/ENT Surgery, and ensure a high quality of patient care by adequately supervising junior medical staff. The Unaccredited Otolaryngologist/ENT Registrar position includes a 6 month rotation at St Vincent’s Hospital Melbourne and a 6 month rotation at Ballarat.

The position of ENT, Head and Neck Registrar will offer you great learning opportunities from attending senior consultant staff, specialist nursing and allied health staff and patients under your care. The senior consultant staff is aware of the study and accreditation requirements placed on you by the College and will, wherever possible, assist you to ensure that these requirements are met.

This role involves a high level of communication and the ability to work effectively in a team setting. It is expected that you will mentor and teach junior staff and work cohesively with paramedical departments and nursing staff.

Hours: 1 EFT (43hrs +/- overtime)

Closing Date: 20/06/2021

Classification Range: HM25 – HM30 ($119,542.8 – 164,538.40)

Contract Start Date: 07/02/2022

Contract End Date: 05/02/2023

  • Assessing patients in clinic, emergency, planning operating schedules
  • Operating with various levels of supervision

  • Ensure complete documentation of admission and progress notes
  • Efficient running of the day to day activities of the unit
Essential Qualifications, Skills & Experience
  • Demonstrated experience applying medical knowledge towards sound clinical diagnosis, investigation and treatment of patients
  • Demonstrated effective communication with patients, relatives, staff and colleagues
  • Classification of PGY4 or greater
  • Full working rights in Australia
  • Hold current AHPRA registration & hold an MBBS or equivalent
  • Hold a current, or willing to undergo a satisfactory National Police Check and if required a NDIS Check at your own expense.
