St Vincent’s Private Hospital Melbourne (SVPHM) is a facility of St Vincent’s Health Australia under the stewardship of Mary Aikenhead Ministries. We are a not for profit Catholic private hospital which operates across four sites at Fitzroy, East Melbourne, Kew and Werribee.

An exciting opportunity exists for an experienced Critical Care Nurse to join our senior leadership team as the Intensive Care Nurse Unit Manager. If you have exceptional leadership skills, excellent communication skills and are passionate about contemporary evidence based best practice then this is the role for you. Our Level 2, eight bed Intensive Care Unit provides nursing, medical and allied health care to a wide variety of patient specialities including cardio-thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, and general surgery.

The unit provides critical care services to patients from Fitzroy, East Melbourne, Kew and Werribee campuses as well as St Vincent’s Public Hospital, adult retrieval and other Health Care Facilities.

Responsibilities will include but will not be limited to :
  • Display adaptability and flexibility to meet the changing operational needs of the business
  • Demonstrate the ability to manage and achieve organisational change, supporting Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Executive Team directives
  • Ability to lead, coach and support clinical teams to optimise customer and organisational outcomes
  • Establish and develop effective relationships with staff, customers, Visiting Medical Practitioners, patients, families and significant others
  • Exhibit leadership qualities and utilise team building strategies to promote a continuous improvement culture ensuring improved patients outcomes and experience
  • Lead the team for efficient and effective management of resources by promoting flexibility and responsiveness to ensure alignment with activity

The successful candidate will have;
  • Current registered nurse with AHPRA registration
  • Post Graduate Qualification in Critical Care
  • Experience and understanding of Intensive Care operations is essential
  • Ability to influence and lead continuous Quality of Care improvements
  • Capability to lead transformational change
  • Proven leadership and managerial skills
  • High level of communication and interpersonal skills
  • Experience in the use of IT platforms such as IBA (webPAS), IMC, Kronos, and Riskman, or similar
