We are looking for a Medical Receptionist to join our Merriwa based clinic on a fixed term contract - maternity leave cover. We are offering a total of 30 hours a week usually on Mondays, Tuesdays, Thursdays and Fridays and would require some flexibility to cover other days too.

  • Minimum 2 years’ experience working in a General Practice
  • Previous experience with Best Practice Software
  • Flexible to cover weekends and other days throughout the week
  • Valid CPR certificate
  • Australian citizen or Permanent Resident


  • Open and close clinic when required (7am -6pm)
  • Greet patients and other callers at the practice in a courteous and efficient manner.
  • Answer the telephone promptly and courteously.
  • Schedule appointments for patients.
  • Issue patient invoices/receipts and bulk bill as required.
  • Enter and update patient registration details.
  • To exercise confidentiality with regards to patient care and all aspects of the practice.
  • Maintain reception area in a tidy and welcoming manner.
  • Assist doctors by making telephone calls, photocopying, etc., as requested and required.
  • Scan and/or file patient correspondence, results daily, or as required.
  • Ensure computer back-up hard drive is changed daily.
  • Actively participate in general staff meetings.
  • Attend training session’s in-house and external courses when required.
  • General housekeeping such as tidying and cleaning of waiting room when necessary.
  • Maintain knowledge of, and comply with, workplace health and safety principles including infection control
