  • Interest in working with children with a wide variety of delays or disabilities. This may include but is not limited to Autism Spectrum Disorder, Cerebral Palsy, Global Developmental Delay, learning difficulties, Sensory Processing challenges, and Down Syndrome.
  • An understanding of and skills related to, Occupational Therapy when using intervention strategies and assessment targeted at children and young adults from 2- 30 years of age
  • Exceptional interpersonal skills and the capacity to work productively in a team


Role

As an Occupational Therapist, you'll be looking after the most important people in our organisation - our families. You will be responsible for assessing and treating children, adolescents, and young adults with various needs. Through a healthy balance of individual skills, collaboration, and teamwork, you will be responsible for designing individualised, family-centered, and holistic therapy intervention plans and programs. Your tasks will also include: 

  • Liaising with external stakeholders, including general practitioners, paediatricians, preschool teachers, teachers, and other health professionals involved in the child's care
  • Combination of clinic-based and off-site intervention. Off-site intervention includes daycare, kindy, school, workplace, and home visits.
  • Independently managing a clinical caseload with a high standard of clinical reasoning.
  • Working collaboratively with the Director to create programs, resources, and workplace efficiencies
  • Ensuring all paperwork is completed accurately, confidentially, and is maintained at all times.
  • Following the principles of the Occupational Therapy Australia Code of Ethics
  • Participating in professional development, supervision, and caseload meetings.


Our Reception Team looks after the scheduling and rescheduling of all our appointments, with therapists not required to manage their own calendars. All of our therapists work towards managing 5 client contact hours per day. An hour of planning is always factored into your day, and supervisions/team meetings are all organised ahead of time.


Must Haves

  • University qualification in Occupational Therapy
  • Professional registration with AHPRA as an Occupational Therapist
  • Member of Occupational Therapy Australia
  • Current National Police Check, before commencement.
  • First aid and CPR certificates, before commencement
  • Current "C" class Queensland Driver's license and your own car
  • Eligibility to provide services under the Mental Health Care Plan is preferable but not a requirement
