COTA SA is the peak body for 633,000 older people in South Australia with a mission to advance the rights, interests and futures of Australians as we age. We believe that ageing is a time of possibility, opportunity and influence and we provide a platform to ensure that older South Australians are part of decision-making by government and industry on everything from income and employment to housing and health. We are now looking for an exceptional customer service professional to join our team, to provide up to date information on aged care and ageing well services to help older South Australians live their best lives.

About the Ageing Well Coordinator Role:
The Ageing Well Coordinator is a new and pivotal role in COTA SA’s work as a trusted source of ageing well information and support for older South Australians, ensuring that the principles of wellness and reablement are at the heart of assisting older people to live their best lives. The Ageing Well Coordinator will be the first point of contact for older South Australians looking for information, advice and help in connecting to appropriate community and aged care supports and services, assisting customers by phone, email and face to face. Reporting to our Community Programs Manager, the Coordinator works with staff and volunteers across COTA SA’s multiple program areas to ensure that customers are supported to engage with the most appropriate programs and services for them, making referrals and facilitating connections to programs delivered by COTA SA and other organisations including through My Aged Care and the Commonwealth Home Support Programme (CHSP). The Ageing Well Coordinator maintains a high level of knowledge in relation to contemporary services in aged care, social connection, wellness and reablement, and is responsible for sharing updated, quality information through COTA SA’s staff, volunteers and Communications channels including our website and other publications. The Ageing Well Specialist will also keep accurate customer records using COTA SA’s CRM and assist with volunteer recruitment and COTA Visitors relationship development.

This is a part-time role, offered as a 0.6 or a 0.8FTE (3 to 4 days per week) negotiable with the successful candidate. We are offering an initial contract to 30 June 2022 with the possibility of extension, subject to funding. You will be based in our new Hutt Street office with access to flexible hours and work arrangements, and generous salary packaging.

Key duties include:
Respond to older South Australians and their representatives to provide information and support to assist them to access aged care and community services to remain living independently in their homes
Provide aged care and community services information in a way that is understood, and empowers older people to make informed decisions
Provide appropriate referrals and connections
Assist with recruitment and matching of both volunteer visitors and COTA Visitors clients
Collating and providing quality information for reception and other staff and volunteers

To be successful in this role you will have:
Qualifications or equivalent work experience in social work, aged care, nursing or health sciences or a related discipline.
Sound knowledge and understanding about My Aged Care, CHSP and the concepts of wellness and reablement
Understanding of the benefits of social inclusion, and social supports available
Highly developed oral, written and interpersonal communication with a customer service excellence focus.
Highly developed organisational, time management and record keeping skills together with an ability to work as part of a small team.
