The goal of The Salvation Army Employment Plus Youth Services is to empower young people to focus on their skills and ability to prepare for, find and keep a job.

You will work with the youth leadership team and our Allied Health team to develop evidence-based and innovative clinical services for young people aged 15- 24 years. This role will equip our team to deliver preventative and early intervention services to young people with, or at risk of developing, serious and persistent mental health problems.

This position can be based in VIC (NE Melbourne/Western Melbourne), NSW (Hunter/Central Coast), ACT, or QLD (Brisbane South East).

About The Role

  • Monitor and lead the ongoing delivery and improvement of a high standard of evidence-based mental health care to young people
  • Assist the Manager – Allied Health and National Manager Youth & Family Services to develop and document policies and procedures that minimise risk and ensure the delivery of integrated and coordinated high quality, evidence-based clinical care services to young people through the Allied Health practice
  • Design and implement clinical and psycho-social based group programs for young people within scope of practice or achieved competencies
  • Support with development, implementation, management, and measurement of peer support program for youth
  • Work collaboratively with the National Manager – Youth Services and Manager – Allied Health to facilitate multidisciplinary clinical team meetings, care planning and case reviews with other clinical
About You
  • Tertiary level qualifications in an allied health discipline including social work or psychology (clinical, counselling).
  • Knowledge and understanding of the theory underpinning evidence-based interventions and clinical practice as well as demonstrated excellence in the practical application of such, in the areas of youth mental health and alcohol and drug use.
  • Post graduate qualifications in an area related to youth mental health.
  • AHPRA approval to provide supervision to clinical placement students will be looked upon favourably
  • Experience in complex clinical triage, assessment and referral.
  • Advanced clinical skills in managing young people at risk, including suicide and violence risks.
  • High level of passion and energy that motivates others
  • Must have current drivers licence, with the ability and flexibility to travel to Employment Plus sites
A current Working with Children Check or relevant state equivalent is a mandatory requirement for this position. Successful applicants will be required to undertake a police check, it is not mandatory to have a clear criminal history.
